Derek Birdsall (born 1934) is a British graphic designer specialising in books.
Notes on designing books by Derek Birdsall is a book about designing books which he goes through some of the tips and techniques he has developed over the years.
He designed the book Shaker Design by June Sprigg which is a beautiful visual history of Shakers artefacts. The use of close up cut-out detail images in contrast to full-spread studio shots with dark background gives this book an amazing rhythm.
