Wicked problems

Wicked problems are complex and challenging social and cultural problems that usually have changing requirements and no clear outcome.

There are often many root causes, multiple (often contradictory) requirements and many potential outcomes.

The term was coined in 1973 by design theorist Horst Rittel in his paper “dilemmas in general theory of planning”

Global warming is often referred to as a wicked problem.
