Commisioner instead of client
I’ve tried for a long time to find an English equivalent of the word oppdragsgiver to describe the person/group/organization that is commissioning a job.
The word commissioner came up in a talk in a quote by John Morgan, and it is actually quite fitting.
The term client is too laden and is difficult, in Norwegian the term kunde is its equivalent. Client impies a very commercial relationship, usually one of buying a thing or service. This not always true of the kind of a relationship we as practitioners form with a commissioner. That realtionship can be more akin to a collaboration, of sailing together.
