Laurie Baker
Indian architect (Born 1917, Birmingham, England – died in 2007, Kerala, India). Designed energy efficient, innovative buildings using local materials and labour.
Seems to have inspired many younger architects in India.
I learned about him through Colin Ward.
Did amazing work with bricks.
His grandson Vineet Radhakrishnan made the documentary Uncommon Sense: The Life and Architecture of Laurie Baker which was released in 2017.
The film has been screened in a few locations in India and the US, but I have yet (2021-08-04) to track down a digital screening of it.
