Edward Tufte data–ink ratio
‘Tufte defines the data-ink ratio as the amount of data-ink divided by the total ink required to print the graphic’ … He puts forward the following five principles related to data-ink:
- Above all else, show data
- Maximize the data-ink ratio
- Erase non-data-ink
- Erase redundant data-ink
- Revise and edit
